Most people have heard of the John O’Groats to Land’s End bike ride and next month Chris Robinson, Managing Director of Adtrak; Jason Parker, Director of Internet Marketing; and Mike Whitby, Head of Web Development; will be bravely (or foolishly – they haven’t yet decided) taking it on!
The bike ride consists of over 1,000 gruelling miles in just 9 days – starting at the very top of Scotland and finishing at England’s most southern point – and will take place between July 4th and July 12th.
Just 4 Jake
The three of them are undertaking the challenge in aid of Just 4 Jake – an incredibly worthwhile charity supporting Jake Michael Evans, a 4 year old little boy who suffers from cerebral palsy. Jake suffered brain damage as a result of being born prematurely and, because of this, cannot walk or stand and instead gets around by commando crawling or using his K walker.
Since turning 3, Jake has started to notice the differences between him and other little people his age. He’s now aware of the fact that other children don’t need help moving or getting around and is conscious that he can’t join in with everything they are capable of enjoying.
Recently however, a new operation has been available in the UK though which, although can’t cure Jake’s cerebral palsy, could be the difference between him walking independently and using a wheelchair for the rest of his life. The operation is called SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) and his family need to raise £50,000 in order to pay for it and the subsequent physiotherapy.
Donations
Jake’s family have raised over £27,000 so far and the Adtrak team – with the help of sponsors and generous donations – would love to help them reach their target.
Many of our clients have already kindly pledged money to support Chris, Jason and Mike – and of course Jake – and we hope more people will do the same! For more information, or to make a donation, visit Jake’s Just Giving page.
Make sure you check back for the results of the bike ride and you will also be able to find a stream of live updates direct from the bike challenge (whether for informative purposes or just for a laugh) on the Just 4 Jake website.
A Big Thank You
We would also like to take this time to say a massive thank you to the following companies who have made substantial donations towards the Just 4 Jake cycling challenge…
