Ten years ago, nothing could have prepared us for the impact of a phone call from one of the nation’s most recognisable charities. Bob Geldof’s team contacted Adtrak and informed us of his intention to revive Band Aid – three decades after the original. Band Aid 30 would revive Band Aid’s mission and support a global response to the Ebola outbreak. And they contacted us to create their branding, logo, and website.
Our work with Band Aid 30 allowed us to take on a challenging and meaningful design task. Our talented design team created a logo and branding that captured Band Aid’s legacy while bringing a contemporary touch for the latest campaign. We were so proud to see the branding become part of a worldwide campaign that brought together musicians, supporters and communities to combat the spread of Ebola.
The success of both the branding and the website was evident in the reaction from the Band Aid Trust themselves, most notably Bob Geldof, who explained that “the logos, the look, the feel are EXACTLY what we needed. Amazing stuff. How the hell you pulled this off is beyond me.” And as if feedback like that from the man himself wasn’t enough, seeing the logo projected onto the Houses of Parliament was another incredible pinch me moment.
Who designed the Band Aid Forty Logo?
Now, a decade later, we’re excited to see that Band Aid 40 is on the way. And not only that, instead of implementing a brand new logo, we’re thrilled to see that they have cleverly adapted Adtrak's original design, by Alan Pearce (Senior Graphic Designer) , to reflect the latest version.
We feel honoured to have contributed to such a worthwhile and significant cause. Our role in designing the Band Aid 30 logo is not only a highlight of Adtrak’s history but also reminds us of the powerful role design plays.
The Do They Know It's Christmas - 2024 Ultimate Mix will premiere on UK breakfast radio on 25 November, the 40th anniversary of when the original artists first went into the recording studio. Here's to Band Aid 40, and another successful fundraising mission!
